I've started a charity drive called the "Mile-a-thon: 26 Miles, 26 Missions, 26 Motivations: Infinite Possibilities." I am planning to kick-off this project in Nov with the ING NYC Marathon. I will be speaking with media and directing them to donation sites as part of promoting the "Mile-a-thon." Each mile will represent a charity/mission and a motivation that will be displayed on signage that I will carry during 1-mile of each race. My list of charities include organizations that focus on community health, in particular youth, women & Hispanics. As one person, I can make a small ripple, but the bigger the "splash" the bigger the ripple. I'd like to draw as much media attention as possible. As the race unfolds, subscribers can be updated through Facebook, twitter, and e-blasts. Each charity can also organize their own additional promotion of the races to reach more potential donors.
