BENEFITING: JONATHAN CANCER FUND
EVENT DATE: Sep 24, 2017
When Abby's mom noticed that she was covered in bruises, she made an appointment with their pediatrician, which quickly led to blood work and a trip to the cancer center at Upstate. Abby was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on February 29th, 2012 at the age of five. After over two years of treatment, Abby completed her last treatment in June 2014. When we rode in January 2015, Abby and her family were very aware of the side effects that come along with treatment. At that time she had just had surgery on both Achilles' tendons. Unfortunately, Abby is not alone--60% of childhood cancer survivors suffer from the "late-effects" of treatment. This past March, Abby shaved her head to support St. Baldrick's and those kids who are still fighting!
