BENEFITING: WARRIOR DOG FOUNDATION
For 6 years, I have been raising money to help bring attention to Military War Dogs, provide care packages and help get them home by asking people to donate instead of giving birthday and Christmas gifts. In 2013, I started Miles For Military Dogs as way to raise more money and challenge myself as these warriors are challenged everyday. MFMD works like this-I run a mile for every dollar raised over a six month period. Thanks to the generosity of the many people who have supported MFMD, I have raised $875 for the United States War Dog Association and $755 for The Warrior Dog Foundation over the past three summers. This year Miles For Military Dogs is, once again, raising money for our 4-legged heroes when they return home. The Warrior Dog Foundation was established by Mike Ritland who fought as a Navy SEAL in Operation Iraqi Freedom and other deployments. He created Warrior Dog Foundation with the sole purpose of giving back to the Navy SEAL and special operations community. Warrior Dog Foundation helps to transition Special Forces Operations dogs from an operational environment into their new life as "civilians". In a state-of-the-art kennel facility, each individual SOF K-9 is cared for with dignity and grace, including both mental and physical rehabilitation for the rest of their lives. In addition, Warrior Dog Foundation strives to educate the public on the importance of K-9s in the combat environment, and showcase the level of sacrifice these dogs give in support of our troops. Check out them out at http://warriordogfoundation.org and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/WarriorDog/. Please support me as I run to support our unsung military heroes and make a small difference in their lives.
