BENEFITING: Children's Harbor Inc
As many of you know, running is not a new hobby of mine, as I run half-marathons frequently, but I have decided to go for the gold and tackle my second full marathon this December in Memphis, TN. I was compelled to jump into something I swore I would never do again by my brother, as this will be his first Marathon, and we will be running this race together.
I don't usually use my running to raise money, but I feel compelled to take on this challenge in memory of a little boy who was taken from us too early, Thaddeus Marlon Carney. While Thaddeus was fighting at Children's Hospital in Birmingham, his extended family who traveled in greatly benefited from the services provided at Children's Harbor, and it is in Thaddeus' name that I will be donating my funds to this non-profit organization.
Children's Harbor provides activities and services for patients of Children's Hospital and their families to break away from their long term hospital stays. Services include patient and sibling activities as well as support through counseling care and educational resources. They also use their Lake Martin campus to host camping and retreat services through partnering organizations, providing patients and families a place of rest and restoration. It offers patients and their families a place to come together and reconnect, often outdoors, in a safe environment for children with various diagnoses.
My goal is to raise $2620 - $100 per mile - can you sponsor a part of my journey? Even $10 would get me 1/10 of a mile closer to the finish line! Thank you for your support!
