BENEFITING: Neurofibromatosis Incorporated Northeast
In March of 2016, our son Nathaniel (Nat) was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF) type 1. While his symptoms are skin deep and do not have any deeper issues currently (and we hope that he never does), he is at risk for a range of things.
Throughout 2017 I will be running (at least 1 mile per day) to raise funds to support NF Northeast, a non-profit founded in 1988 to find a treatment and cure for Neurofibromatosis by promoting scientific research, creating awareness, and supporting those who are affected by NF.
My first test comes at the 121st running of the Boston Marathon on April 17 where NF Northeast has given me the honor of representing them.
In October, I will take on my first 100 mile race at the Hennepin 100 near Chicago. This race will push me past my limits, but I believe and want to prove to Nat that anything is possible.
As we hope this never manifests into anything serious with Nat, there are many people with NF that need our help. Any / all support are greatly appreciated in raising awareness for and fighting this disease.
