Don’t give up! That’s what Milo was just about to do when Wright-Way Rescue found him. Out of the hundreds of requests we receive each week from animal control facilities, Milo's picture stood out among the pets in need across the Midwest. There was something very sad about Milo's story, and we knew we had to jump in to help.
Milo had severe burns thought to have been caused by boiling water being thrown on him, and over 40% of his skin had been destroyed. It’s a mystery who performed this horrific act to sweet Milo, but one thing was clear: this cat was in immediate need of medical attention. Milo had endured horrific pain but, despite his injury, he maintained the friendliest and sweetest feline.
When he saw the Wright-Way Rescue Team arrive, Milo lifted up his little head and purred. Our team rushed to him, carefully transferred him into a Wright-Way Rescue transport crate, and drove him straight back to the Wright-Way Rescue Admission & Care Campus – four hours away. He amazingly made it that far, and the Wright-Way staff veterinarians and technicians went to work trying to save his life.
Over the last month, the staff has grown more and more attached to this brave and sweet cat. Milo has received multiple daily exams, supportive care, regular blood work, and lots of love and encouragement. Despite his obvious discomfort, Milo rubs against the veterinary staff and even gives them kisses during his exams.
Today Milo was stable enough to have surgery to remove the damaged skin which will help ensure proper healing and minimize infection. He has months of recovery ahead of him, but for the first time Milo's prognosis is good!
Milo’s medical expenses are piling up, and he is in desperate need of generous donations. We know this cat has a guardian angel out there ... or maybe several? Please help us save Milo's life by making a donation today.
