MIMA Music is an American 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded at Princeton University in 2000, with a mission to engage and enrich underserved communities through music.
MIMA has hosted music and media education workshops in 40 countries around the world. We invented a teaching methodology and songwriting curriculum that includes interactive musical games and develops students' musical skills as well as essential social-emotional skills such as creativity, confidence and collaboration.
Our program revenues only cover a portion of the actual costs of delivering music education, and we need your help to continue supporting our talented teachers, as well as expanding our programming in NYC and other "music cities" nationwide.
- In Spring 2015 we completed 10 programs at seven NYC schools, and provided media programs to embassies in Mumbai, Algeria, Helsinki and The Hague.
- Ongoing MIMA programs continue in NYC schools. This Fall we launched a new program at Providence Children’s Hospital in El Paso, TX and are slated to launch programs in Charlottesville, VA in 2016
- Our December fundraising goal of $15,000 will help us provide scholarships for new programs and reach up to 200 new students.
