Mimi's Life & Mom's Denial of her Mental Issues
Organized by: Pearlie Smiley
My niece, Menyaca (Mimi) Smiley-Brown is a 39 yr. old young lady bedridden , hospitalized , fighting for her life....She loves to eat but is not keeping weight on, has seizures .... When close to normal moments come she smiles, talking about her dreams which will go from one extreme to another... Then she will sweetly say I'm going back to bed, meaning back to sleep.... Her mom, my sister is also schizophrenic also , does everything she can to help her daughter daily, yet she 's in denial often not seeing the big picture....Their income is NOT enough to pay all the utilities & rent monthly, so they are behind....Her mom's got mental issues I can see whenever I give her something to help them, when I can, like barely showing emotion, or saying thank you....instead she thinks she has to pay me back....She has outbursts, shouting , when talking, going against the things you advise her to try... She's applied for SSI in the past, but was told she didn't qualify....I advised her mom to go apply for herself again....I can't pay their bills...She wants to remain independent, but its impossible to leave her daughter alone daily....Schitzophrenia doesn't allow her to trust anyone....Donations are needed to catch their bills up.
