The MINDS Foundation has a persistent commitment to taking a grassroots approach to eliminating stigma and providing educational, financial, medical, and moral support for patients suffering from mental illness in rural India.
We have to-date educated over 1000 rural citizens in 19 villages in the region of Vadodara, Gujarat, India.
We are currently providing treatment to 40 patients from these villages.
During the summer of 2012, we have a number of research studies taking place all being done by volunteers.
(1) An Exploration of Attitudes Toward Mental Health Among Healers, Patients, and Community Members in Gujarat, India
(2) Researching the Prevalence of Stigma and Its Connection to Symptoms, Cognitive Function, and Psychological Status in Gujarat, India
