This year I joined Minds Matter as a mentor to a high-achieving, low-income sophomore in high school. We'll be paired together for the next three years as she embarks on the college application process. She's starting this year with ACT tutoring and she'll attend summer courses at a prestiguous university. Minds Matter is 100% volunteer-run, so all of the money raised here goes straight to programs for the mentees.
Minds Matter’s mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. Minds Matter is a three-year program that offers its students a combination of individualized mentor support, professional ACT instruction, and access to top-tier academic summer programs. The statistics speak for themselves. Since opening its doors in 2003, 100% of Minds Matter graduating seniors have gained admission to four year- colleges.
Donations of any size can help with Minds Matter's expenses:
•$25 – food during session all year
•$50 – college application fee
•$100 – transportation to and from sessions for the year
•$250 – ACT tutoring for one year
•$1,000 – new laptop for college (graduating seniors)
•$2,000 – tuition and board at a top tier summer program
