BENEFITING: Minkwon Center for Community Action, Inc.
We hope you’ve had a rockin’ summer this year! As the season winds down, MinKwon Center’s Korean American cultural troupe,BINARI, is ready to gear up for another exciting session of weekly practices, events, and performances beginning in September –and we ask for your help today to kick this off!
In its 25th year, BINARI continues to practice the tradition of Poongmul dance, song, and drumming, bringing renewed hope and a spirit of unity to communities throughout New York City. We’ve had the privilege of drumming with many of you at immigrant rights rallies and marches, our annual Jishin Balpgi Lunar New Year Festival, the Pride Parade, and the Chinatown Lunar New Year for All Parade.
As we prepare for the upcoming BINARI sessions, Chuseok, the Korean fall harvest celebration, is quickly approaching this year on September 12th! , Chuseok is a day in which Koreans thank the ancestors for the year’s harvest and shared their abundance with family and friends.
In the spirit of Chuseok, we are aiming to raise $2,700 by September 30th, 2011 to help us purchase new drums, costumes, and equipment for the Chuseok season and for years to come. Please make a contribution of $25, $50, $100 – or whatever you can afford – today to help us reach this goal! All contributions are tax-deductible & can be made online at Crowdrise.
Join us as we continue to keep our traditional drum beats alive – and let’s keep marching towards a more inclusive and just society!
