MINNA North America's Medical Mission
Organized by: Mboho Nsit Atai
EVENT DATE Dec 27, 2016
A great African saying states that “It takes many hands to paddle a canoe”, and this proverb has been one of the driving forces behind the creation of Mboho Ima Ndito Nsit Atai (MINNA) North America, Inc. As a 501 © 3 non-profit organization, MINNA was established to offer medical and educational assistance to the underprivileged people of the Nsit Atai local government located in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. As of today, Nsit Atai has 1 comprehensive Health Care Center, 1 primary health center, and 2 health posts. Most of these centers remain in deplorable conditions in terms of structure, equipment, and personnel, and face a significant struggle in providing much needed health care services. It is also disheartening to know that most of the time, people are unable to afford these subpar health care services. It is at this point that the members of MINNA North America resolved to join hands to address this issue. On July 2013 we made history by bringing to Nsit Atai the first Medical Mission. By the end of the 3 day mission, over 2,000 people were seen and treated, more than 20 people received cataract surgery, over 21 people were able to undergo general surgery to treat various conditions, and countless people were able to get much needed medications, all at no cost to the people. 3 years have passed, and we are now ready to join forces once again to provide this community with another Medical Mission to be held from December 27-31, and we are asking for everyones support to make this Mission another success.
