I’m running to raise funds for the Minnesota Breastfeeding Coalition (MBC), a non-profit dedicated to making breastfeeding easier for moms and babies in Minnesota. I have been a past Board Member and have volunteered for the MBC since it started in 2006. The MBC works collaboratively with health care providers, public health, and community organizations to create an environment so all mothers can breastfeed their babies as long as they desire. As a nutritionist and lactation consultant, I’ve seen so many mothers struggle with breastfeeding their babies due to lack of good information and help, a work environment that doesn’t allow for a mother to express milk for their baby, or embarrassment because a mother feels feeding their baby in public is too hard. Research has shown that human milk is the best nutrition for our babies and as a mother of two breastfed children, I can say it was the best gift I could give them and a wonderful way to bond. The MBC is working to make it easier for all mothers who want to breastfeed so every baby has the opportunity to receive the best start in life.
