BENEFITING: Community Awareness and Treatment Services
SEA MISSION Inc
SEA Mission Inc. is a Christian non-profit organization first initiated in 2005 for the support of the prisoners with our goal to rehabilitate them through religious immersion. We have worked to reshape their behaviors and to improve their lives. While serving inmates, we recognized their concerns and desperate hearts towards their families and relatives. Majority of inmates’ families do not have standard quality of life due to life circumstances; thus, we are continuously supporting them financially and with their social needs. With our hope to further assist more and more people in needs, we have extended into a community supporting organization for Jane & Finch where impoverished neighbor are concentrated. Jane & Finch Community in Canada is very alike to Harlem in US. It is a place located in northwestern Toronto. This neighborhood has "one of the highest proportion of youth, sole-supported families, refugees and immigrants, low-income earners and public housing tenants of any community in Toronto" (Youth Issues Coalition, 2002). It is also where most of the criminal gangs gather at; thus, owns high crime rates in this area. The raised funds will 100% be used to fund the programs we own, called Junior Soccer/Academic Club. These programs only costs $20 per student for the whole season, and it is designed for the children of impoverished families from Jane & Finch Community. We offer them a fun and safe place to be motivated to participate in sports for more active and healthier physical life, and also to provide an opportunity to interact with their peers. We also provide English and Math tutors, and ensure that they do not fall behind with the education and with the school works. Through these programs, our volunteers and staff approach to help children to show them the 'love', and 'comfort'. We also help the families and support the community through other various programs such as Loving Hands Ministry, Prisoner Ministry, and Loving Package.
