Miracle for Martha
Organized by: Heath Mellor
Martha has already bravely fought 2 rounds of cancer. It's back and we started this fund to help her fight and beat this vicious disease, hopefully for good this time. She's a mother of 6 (1 granddaughter that she raised as her own), grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 13 who's got a lot of life left to live.
Back in 2010, she was ill quite a bit. She was finally convinced to go to the ER after being in horrible pain for weeks. They found a mass the size of a grapefruit in her lower abdomen. Tests were done and determined it was cancer, it would later be determined that it was Malignant Teratoma of the Ovary. Ovarian cancer. They scheduled a hysterectomy, in which they found a large tumor, and that it had spread to her intestine. She had her first round of chemo shortly after. The following year she was in remission, and in 2012 she got sick again, but they had a hard time figuring out what was wrong with her. In 2013 they diagnosed her with cancer again. By January, 2014 she was in remission again. However in June this year, they determined it has returned. This fundraiser will help pay for her medical expenses.
She worked for NACM Intermountain (National Association of Credit Management) for 28 years, mainly assisting others with education before retiring in 2004. Prior to that she was a secretary and office manager totaling over 40 years in business. She has helped her family and neighbors whenever possible. She cared for her mother in her home for 12 years after her mom suffered a stroke, as well caring for her mother-in-law after she fell and broke her hip. She loves to camp, spend time with her family, crochet, travel and read. She's been a pillar of strength for all of us, and now we'd like to try to return the favor.
