BENEFITING: TEAM RED WHITE & BLUE
EVENT DATE: Oct 29, 2016
DOUBLE TIME, MARCH!!!
We are so humbled to be selected for Team RWB's Marine Corp's Marathon charity racing team, especially since we were selected individually and as a family. Together, the Lewis family is joining together to conquer 26.2 miles in our Nation's Capital and raise $1,500 for Team Red, White and Blue, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of American Veterans through physical and social activity.
Please help our mission by donating to our crowdrise fundraising account which pipes the money directly to our charity. In addition to this site, please stay tuned for our other fundraising activities.
Message from Miranda:
Team RWB's mission and goals hold a special place in my heart. My husband is an Army veteran who was trying to get active after his service ended. I saw someone wearing a RWB shirt at a race and suggested that he get involved with the team. Little did I know, civilians are a welcome part of RWB. Fast forward 18 months, he and I are the athletic directors for Team RWB Huntsville/Redstone Arsenal. Team RWB truly enriches veteran's lives. Whether it be through a kickball game or dinner out, we are a close knit community who helps one another. I am so proud to run my first marathon wearing the Team RWB charity bib and for this opportunity to raise funds to help further the mission and enrich veterans' lives!
Message from George:
Until the end of November, I have decided to set aside my HOOAH for a HOORAH! Being a Veteran and working in the Defense Industry, I have had the immense pleasure of supporting the United States Marine Corp in a number of missions both domestically and abroad, but this is the first time that I've been crazy enough to run through Washington DC with 30,000 of them! It is also the first time that I've been so proud to run a race.
After I left the service, I immediately felt the loss of that feeling that you get when serving with your fellow service men and women. That feeling you get when you know you have your battle buddy's back and he has yours. I didn't always miss the job, but I have always missed the Troops that I served with.
In the last 2 years since I joined Team RWB and became the Athletic Co-Director in Huntsville, that feeling of worth has returned. Unlike many other Veteran Organizations, Team RWB hasn't thrown handouts and pity parties, instead Team RWB has thrown me into the thick strife with my fellow veterans and challenged us to succeed! From Go Ruck Camps with Green Berets making us carry logs and "Ruck" through the Ocean, to Olympic Triathlons, to crazy Trail Runs with 4,700 feet of elevation change, to now the Marine Corp Marathon, Team RWB has gave me a Mission and failure is not an option.
Please help us in our mission to conquer DC! HOORAH!
