BENEFITING: HAITI PARTNERS INC
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2014
Many of my WorldBlu friends and supporters will know that Haiti Partners is an organization very close to my heart. Having seen the work of Haiti Partners first hand in 2011, I have become even more determined to support this groundbreaking organization who are working to bring freedom and democracy to Haiti through education and community building.
Back in 2011 I was struggling with the sudden passing of my mother. I was at the lowest point in my life and grieving deeply. Around this time I had the opportunity to visit Haiti with two colleagues to see the work that the Haiti Partners team are doing in some of the most challenging circumstances. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, a situation made worse by a devastating earthquake several years ago.
One week in Haiti was enough to transform my thinking. I found a sense of faith, hope and joy that I have not experienced anywhere else on my travels around the world. In the midst of utter devastation, people were moving forward and rebuilding their lives anew. I came home professionally enriched and personally transformed.
Haiti is a country unlike any other and the folks at Haiti Partners are leading the charge to enable Haitians to help each other- to live the spirit of Ubuntu.
I'm participating in The Colour Run 5k in London, UK on June 1st 2014 to raise vital funds for two charities who are very close to my heart - Haiti Partners and the BAAS Educational Trust in India. You can donate to Haiti Partners via this fundraising page.
Those of you that know me will know that even going 5k on foot is a challenge for me. Over the last few months I've been training hard with the help of my fabulous personal trainer Francis. The opportunity to run around North London while having masses of colourful paint aimed at me was just too appealing!
Thank you SO much for all your kind and generous donations to Haiti Partners!
