COVENANT LIFE CHURCH wrote -
After the 2010 earthquake, thousands upon thousands of Haitians lost their homes, and jobs – and many lost family members. Many decided to begin their new lives in New Canaan – a half-day’s walk into the mountains outside Port Au Prince. They began with the clothes on their back and what they could carry.
Now, New Canaan residents number about 40,000 people; scattered all over the mountainside. In April, a team from our church will go to work alongside the families already working hard to provide and build up the most basic needs of life.
Please help us bring sustainable, long-term solutions to the New Canaan community!
Your TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donations will go toward go toward constructing and maintaining the following:
Water – A critical element to life. We will be helping construct an underground water system, bringing water to the newly constructed – and only medical clinic in New Canaan.
Education – There was no education for the children of New Canaan for almost four years! That is until the Grace Evangelical School opened it’s doors in the Fall of 2014. They began with almost 100 students with hundreds more waiting. There have been some expansions, but there are over 200 students now who require classrooms space and educational resources and staff.
Healthcare – With almost no public transportation, pregnant women have to make the difficult walk to the nearest healthcare facility in Port Au Prince. This new clinic will be able to offer a safe and clean birthing and recovery area for mothers and their newborns. The clinic will also be able to provide medical care basic healthcare for this community.
Living Water – Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well, “Everyone who drinks from this water will get thirsty again. But whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty again—ever! In fact, the water I will give him will become a well of water springing up within him for eternal life." The people of New Canaan are desperate for physical water, and many see their need for the Living Water, flowing only through the life brought through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In February of 2015 we saw God do amazing work! God is working powerfully in and through Seed Evangelical Church in New Canaan. Last year, several new believers came to trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior and were baptized that week!
We are excited to return to see what God has done over the last year, and be a part of the work He has for us – ministering alongside the church leaders there!
Expenses – if we exceed the funds needed to support the projects for our trip, some funds will be used to support some travel and ministry expenses of our team. Thank you again for your support and we look forward to sharing this incredible journey with you!
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." - Acts 1:8
