BENEFITING: CONNIE MAXWELL CHILDRENS HOME
Right off, I know the first question probably is, Where is American Samoa? American Samoa is an island that is about 76 square miles and the home to about 55,000 people. I recently went to Samoa as a volunteer teacher. It was truly a life changing experience, but I was unable to stay because it was volunteer and I ran out of money. The people of Samoa are the most down to earth people and have a heart bigger than anyone I know. I am itching to get back to American Samoa to continue teaching and reaching out to the many that are in poverty. While I was in American Samoa, we traveled to the neighbor island of Samoa (not a U.S. Territory). We were able to visit a village of natives that were collecting rain water as their only water source. They wore the same old clothes from many days before. When we got to the village, many of them didn't have shoes, and they lived on top of a rocky mountain terrain. They saved the rain water from days and weeks before so we would have something to drink as we visitied them. The people of Samoa are the most gracious and giving people I have ever known, but at some point, it is time to give back to them!! I am trying to raise money for myself and hopefully some others to travel to American Samoa and take clothes and shoes and hopefully create some form of water source, other than rain, for these people. Please help me or join me in helping the people of American Samoa!
