BENEFITING: ZOOTOWN ARTS COMMUNITY CENTER
This year Missoula Rock Lotto will raise money to buy equipment and gear for The Zootown Arts Community Center's Girls Rock Camp. The purpose of this page is for those of you who want to help support Rock Camp but can't attend the lotto, or want to give a little more than just the cover to get into the show.
What is Girls Rock Camp: ZACC began this camp last summer. This program is designed to build self esteem and inspiration through music exploration, teach the fundamentals of playing in a band, drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals, song writing, and generally finding your own unique rocking voice! And ultimately to get girls and women making music together and performing on stage! The first camp was very popular and has now grown into an after-school program. In the works is a golden rock camp for seniors, more summer camps and after-school camps for girls. But music equipment is expensive and so far the program relies entirely on borrowed equipment, and there is note enough for the girls to take home and practice.
Quote from parent of child in ZACC Girls Rock Camp: "I CAN NOT express in words how much this [program] changed my daughter! And when I say “changed” I mean – more confident, proud, expressive and independent."
About Rock Lotto: The drawing for "Rock n Roll Lotto III: Girlschool" will be held at Flipper's Sun., Dec. 7, at 4 PM. To sign up go to Ear Candy Music between now and then and put your name on the list to form a band that will play at the Rock Lotto. The Lotto will take place at the Palace Sat., Feb. 21, at nighttime. All proceeds from the lotto will benefit the ZACC's Girls Rock Camp. Our goal: $3,500 for gear and recording gear. Any extra money made will go toward scholarships for low income families.
