MIT Model United Nations
MITMUNC 2017 has decided to partner with the International Rescue Committee for its novel approaches to helping people in refugee crises around the world. Apart from providing localized relief efforts in areas of need, such as directly providing healthcare to people in Aleppo, Syria, the IRC has introduced innovative solutions, such as providing cash transfers to people in need. Moreover, the IRC documents and justifies its efforts with research studies and randomized control trials, as means to decide where relief efforts create the biggest impact. Finally, the IRC also holds great ties to M.I.T. since researchers from the university have collaborated on measuring the impact of certain programs. We are very proud in knowing that the International Rescue Committee President and CEO David Miliband is also an alumni of the university.
