BENEFITING: DEAR JACK FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 11, 2015
Please join me in my continuing crusade to crush cancer by fundraising through my marathons and half marathons. This fall I am partnering with an organization that is near and dear to my heart - the Dear Jack Foundation. http://www.dearjackfoundation.com. Each year I run the Boston Marathon throughthe Dana Farber Marathon Challenge. One of the most moving moments is when they introduce the patient partner program which pairs runners with kids battling cancer.
This fall, I am focusing my efforts on the young adults and adolescents that are battling cancer. The Dear Jack Foundation (DJF) advocates for and supports initiatives that directly benefit adolescents and young adults (AYA) diagnosed with cancer. The foundation supports organizations which recognize the unique challenges the AYA community faces, during and post-treatment. Through outreach, collaboration, and focused initiatives, DJF works to create more positive health outcomes and improved quality of life for all young adults in this fight. Recipients of Dear Jack funding are: the UCLA stem cell transplant program (a program on the cutting edge of cures through transplantation), The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, First Descents, Cancer for College, Matt Cwiertny Memorial Foundation’s Matt’s Mixed Tape Project and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.
My goal is to raise $10,000 this fall as I run the Nantucket Half Marathon on October 11. I am excited to run such a great race and support my friend, Andrew McMahon, and his organization. With your help we can increase my total lifetime funds raised to over $250,000 since 2004 with this effort. Thank you in advance!
