ILS is partnering with The Nature Conservancy to raise $10,000 toward habitat conservation. Our mission is twofold, contributing to conservation efforts both globally and locally. First, we will donate funds to protect the Maya rainforest in Central America, the second largest rainforest in the Western Hemisphere and home to myriad threatened species, as well as the indigenous Mayan people. This rainforest plays a key role in mitigating climate change by sequestering millions of tons of carbon.
Second, ILS has committed to planting 200 hundred trees at the Conservancy’s Big Darby Headwaters Nature Preserve in Central Ohio on September 17, 2016. The Big Darby Creek is designated as a State and National Scenic River and home to several endangered species, like the spotted darter fish, northern riffleshell mussel, and Indiana bat. Planting these trees will help to keep the air and water clean, in addition to providing food and shelter to local wildlife.
