Name change for Kora project appeal to Mkomazi Project
Very sadly, the decision has been made to pull out of Kora, at least for the next year. The situation there has become increasingly dangerous and Tony Fitzjohn will be keeping his full focus on Mkomazi National Park,on the Kenyan/Tanzania border where he has been working for the past 24 years.
He will be continuing the acclaimed rhino and wild dog projects, along with infrastructure and an extensive outreach programme including the building of a Vocational Training College in the local village of Gonja.
However he is still committed to funding an Independent Consultant to undertake the Environmental Impact Assessment for the Kora Fence and this has already started. It is of critical importance, and should there be a return to Kora at a later date, invaluable to have as a starting point for further progress, saving months of bureaucratic wrangling and sensitizations of both the communities and central and regional governments.
We would like to thank all of you most sincerely for your donations and ask that you continue to make donations to this ground breaking and worthwhile cause.
