BENEFITING: American Red Cross
Dearest Family and Friends,
May 10th will be my 20th birthday and with this small milestone I hope to achieve a goal of mine, finishing a Sprint Triathlon. As some of you may know, I am participating in the USTA Capital of Texas Triathlon on Memorial Day, May 27th, 2013. I have been training for three months and have four weeks left as of this Monday, April 29th. The Sprint Triathlon will include a 1/2 mile open water swim in Lady Bird Lake, a 12.4 mile/20K bike ride alongside the Texas state capital, and a 3.1 mile/5K run through the heart of the city.
After the tumultuous week our country has overcome with the Boston Marathon bombings and the explosion in West, Texas, I thought I might do something that would not only help motivate my last weeks of training but would also make a genuine gesture that might help all of us feel a little bit better about the world we live in. In support of my training for this exciting event, I have started an online fundraiser to benefit the American Red Cross. My goal is to raise $500 in 4 weeks, perhaps a lofty goal on such short notice, but I think together we can make this happen and remember, every dollar counts. I am not asking anyone to give beyond his or her means, so please give what you can if you would like to give back. Thank you!
