BENEFITING: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
EVENT DATE: Jun 14, 2015
Five years ago, I found a group that would become family and I embarked on a journey I never thought I would undertake. Team in Training coached and mentored me to cross the finish line of a marathon and then I just kept on going. I crossed the finish line of an Olympic distance triathlon, I hiked the Grand Canyon, and I raised over $10,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Every event I've completed has been about doing something I never thought I could do; going outside of my comfort zone. I am proof that you CAN do physical things you never thought possible. I couldn't run one mile when I started training for my first marathon. Now I'm on a journey through 1.2 miles swimming, 56 miles biking, and 13.1 miles running.
Fundraising is hard work and though I'm not part of Team in Training for this event, I want to give my friends and family the opportunity to support me through donations. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a charity close to my heart. The coaches, mentors, and athletes I trained with have become my family. I now also have a closer connection to those battling blood cancer; in 2011, my father was diagnosed with CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia). Please show your support by making a donation and help find a cure so we can have a world without blood cancers!
