MARLEYS MUTTS DOG RESCUE's Fundraiser:

Spay & Neuter @ Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue

MARLEYS MUTTS DOG RESCUE's Photo

THE STORY:

Spay and Neuter, it truly seems like a simple concept and yet it is difficult to manifest into a reality.  There is one simple answer to the problem of pet overpopulation, Money.  It may seem blunt but it is factual, surgery cost money and in our community most cannot afford it.  We currently offer low cost spay and neuter to residents in the 3 zip codes that create almost 50% of all dogs that enter our county shelter system.  We need help expanding this to someday reach all areas of our community with a force so great that overpopulation cannot exist.

While it may seem like an imposible task we will accoplish it and I can tell you why I personally fight so hard.  My friends work at the shelter.  I cannot imagine the anguish that must come over them everyday as they wake up and realize they will end the lives of dogs that did nothing wrong, their only crime was being born.  I see the life drain from my friends eyes as they continue to clean up the mess society is still creating.  I see the pain in their face and the hole in their heart that is brought on by the never ending see of souls delivered to them daily.  To have to pick which animal will live or die based on how many kennels you have available is a hell most of us couldn't bare.

We can end this, all it takes is Money.  We have the volunteers, we have the doctors, we have the local government on our side, all we need is money.  Please help us end this nightmare our county is faced with on a daily basis.  Help us help our community in fighting back.  Donate to spay and neuter and save countless lives.  - Jackie

California's Kern County suffers from a pet overpopulation problem that has become an epidemic. Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue is committed to helping address this by using our knowledge of spay/neuter combined with Canine Wellness Education.

We are out in the community every day, where we have gained valuable knowledge about the people we will serve. It is our belief that low income communities should be targeted with spay/neuter events that are held in their respective “back yards” and would have the effect of educating as well as serving.

Without proper education, spay/neuter, even in great numbers, will only temporarily help the problem. By creating monthly Canine Wellness Events around these spay/neuter services we can empower these communities with knowledge and insight that they can take home with them and share.

Working extensively in Kern County over the last 5 years we have learned that its residents are some of the most giving, aware and cause-oriented folks on the planet. By working in, not just with, these communities we create a much larger mechanism for change! The overpopulation of pets in Kern County has been a problem within our community.
