This is my third year volunteering at Minds Matter of LA, and my, what a ride it's been. My mentee finally graduates High School and gets to go away to college. The fruits of my labor have blossomed - almost.
Ok, now that the rosy stuff is behind us, lets get down to business.
Minds Matter is an organization that mentors high potential youth from misopportune schools to essentially ensure they are offered the same fortuity a lot of the rest of us take for granted.
I've seen remarkable growth all around, the progeny of quite the marriage I must say!
First and foremost, its the mentee's - well on their way to being productive adults, cocksure and ready to take on, and might I add, contribute (hint hint) to the world!
As a mentor, I too have grown, from a freewheeling partying 28 year old, to a slightly more responsible adult. I also have met some amazing people and made friends for a life-time, not to mention the fact that my tennis game has gotten a lot better! Thanks co-mentors and everyone else involved.
Please join me in helping out this amazing organization with whatever gift/amount you feel comfortable with parting! You can even donate spare airline miles (whatever airline, whatever # of miles)

Minds Matter of Los Angeles has received a fundraising challenge of $7,500 from a generous donor. In order to receive this donation, we need to raise a matching amount before December 31st, 2012.
At this time of the year, we give thanks to all who have helped Minds Matter of Los Angeles become a successful program. We can only do this through the continued generosity of supporters like you. Please consider making a donation and helping us reach our goal.
Minds Matter is an academic mentoring organization that provides each student with intensive, dedicated support in key areas that can make the difference between a rigorous college education being a dream and a reality. Our mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. Each of our students is paired with two dedicated mentors, who provide personalized, ongoing support over the course of three years.
