BENEFITING: American Red Cross
Several weeks ago Hurricanes Manuel and Ingrid battered both coasts of Mexico leaving a wide path of devastation caused by high winds and twelve straight days of rain. More than one million people were impacted by the effects of the storms.
To date, 2100 tons of humanitarian aid including food, cooking utensils and hygiene supplies to help prevent disease. These items that have been delivered by the Mexican Red Cross will also help people clean up their flooded homes. Since the storms struck, the American Red Cross has been in close contact with the Mexican Red Cross, and has committed an initial $150,000 to the response. The American Red Cross will continue to work with the Mexican Red Cross as the full extent of damages and needs are assessed. The American Red Cross also has opened cases to help U.S. nationals locate missing family members in Mexico.
