Hello friends and family, I am running the Gasparilla Half Marathon on February 21st, 2016 to raise money for Moffitt Cancer Center.
Statistics show that 39.6 percent of people will receive a diagnosis of cancer in their lifetime.
I lost my dad on September 23rd, 2015 at the age of 58 to a rare form of Bladder Cancer. My dad was my best friend, mentor, and one of the most generous people that I knew. When I spoke to him before he passed away, I told him my intentions of running a half marathon on his behalf. At that time, he smiled at me and told me that he wanted the money donated to Moffitt Cancer Center.
At this point, he knew that he had run out of options and there was nothing else medicine or the doctors could do. I made a pledge to my dad on that day, that I would raise money and give it to Moffitt Cancer Center in memory of him. Unlike some fundraisers, I decided that I will match every donation that is made up to $2,500.00 of my own personal money. Any donation no matter how great or how small would be most appreciated. My goal is to raise $5,000.00.
Almost everyone has had a loved one diagnosed with cancer or has lost someone to cancer. Please help donate to my half marathon and help find a cure for all cancer. Thank you for your support!
