BENEFITING: ROSE OF SHARON EQUESTRIAN SCHOOL INC
Rose of Sharon Equestrian School is a therapeutic horsemanship program that helps kids with disabilities open up to life through horses. When I first came here I was a student who took lessons for a while. I learned how to be patient with the horses. I gained confidence because I learned how to talk to the animals and give them commands and wait for them to respond. I learned how to groom the horses and the use of each brush. After I was a student, I became a volunteer and then I was chosen to become an employee, because I connected with the horses, the students, and the volunteers. I have more responsibilities now as an employee. I give the horses fresh water and clean their stalls. I sometimes prepare the horses’ medicine and feed the horses their meals. Izzie is the sweetest and kindest horse I’ve ever met in my life. She knows when I’m sad or not feeling well and she worries about me. She can give me a look that asks me if I’m okay. That means a lot to me, because Izzie has her own challenges…she has a unique knee. Izzie is 20 years old now and has arthritis which makes her knee look funny. The fundraiser would help pay for Izzie’s visits with the veterinarian, farrier, equine dentist, hay, grain, and bedding. I chose to sponsor Izzie because I wanted to give back to ROSES and thank them for all they have done for me. Please consider helping me make this possible and donate to help me reach my goal.
