With Sustainable Moloka'i and another non-profit local to the island, Affordable Homes Moloka'i, Emillia and Kat were able to create a volunteer pilot program this year where the team will be working with six families building homes and implementing permaculture projects. Talk about getting your hands dirty! The team will be on island from December 31 - January 8th, 2012.
We're very excited about this endeavor, because not only does this idea cater to partnering local non-profits with like-minded goals, but it is also at a low cost for our volunteers, making it easier to fundraise in these economically challenging times. Sustainable Moloka'i is a grassroots group formed to inspire all the island's residents to work toward a more sustainable future.
Sustainable Moloka'i draws upon the strengths inherent in the island's close knit community and seeks to cultivate symbiotic partnerships for projects designed to become self-supporting such as Affordable Home Moloka'i.
