Mom On A Mission
Organized by: Kristine Brown
My name is Kristine Brown. I am a wife, mom of five and grandma of 2 sweet little boys. I recently turned 50 and unlike most people, I didn't dread my upcoming birthday. My mom passed away at the age of 49 and my sister at 40. I told myself that if I am fortunate enough to make it to my 50th birthday, I want to do more to help people. So, I made it and I'm now ready to get to work!
I am currently working on obtaining my certification to teach English as a foreign language. My goal is to go overseas next year and volunteer teach English to street kids and/or kids in an orphanage. By learning English, these children will have a better chance for a future for themselves and their families. Being able to speak English will open up more doors for them for employment, thus giving them a better opportunity to be able to support themselves. I plan on living with a local family or staying in a hostel and living with the bare essentials.
All donations received will go towards program fees, travel and accommodation expenses, vaccinations, passport and visa. Anything left over will be used to purchase school supplies for the children. By teaching the children English, giving them support and showing them that others care, I hope to make a difference in their lives. At this point, I am considering Central America or Asia and will serve with a reputable volunteer organization. I appreciate every donation, no matter how small. Please share my page with others that may be interested. I hope to have updates and videos to show everyone the difference their donations are making in the lives of these children. Thank you!!
