December 21st, 2012 – Ashland High School Gymnasium
I will help.
I will participate.
I will make a difference.
I will shine a light into the darkness.
On December 21st, our community will come together to make a difference. We will gather on the longest night of the year, practice yoga by candlelight and join hands, hearts, and consciousness to create the strength and unity that comes from togetherness.
Twelve fabulous and inspiring yoga teachers will guide us through 108 sun salutations.
Each participant is challenged to raise a minimum of $108 to fight human trafficking in India.
Each participant will be given an individual light to shine a light into the darkness.
Our cause? 100% of donations collected will support The Global Seva Challenge of Off the Mat, Into the World, whose efforts will directly support grass roots organizations in India working to provide refuge, rehabilitation and economic opportunities for survivors of human trafficking.
Sex trafficking is a $32 billion industry worldwide. It is the third biggest criminal industry after drugs and arms trafficking. An estimated 3 to 6 million women and children are enslaved for sex at any given time, nearly a million of whom are trafficked across international borders each year. The average age is 12 to 14. In India, there are estimated to be 2 to 3 million sex trafficking victims. *
On the longest night of the year, you are invited to gather, to hold vigil, to embrace healing, to shine a light for the millions of girls and women living their lives as sexual slaves in this very moment. 108 asanas. $108. With everyone challenged to raise a little, we raise a lot.
On the longest night of the year, will you join us to shine a light in the world?
