2018 Monk Run
EVENT DATE: Apr 14, 2018
On Friday, March 11, 2016, floodwaters from the Bogue Falaya River inundated Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College with nearly two feet of water. The impact of the flood far surpasses damages suffered in Hurricane Katrina — especially in light of record enrollment in the seminary. Although nobody was hurt, 31 buildings were damaged, and total losses have exceeded $30 million.
How can you help?
Each year, Monk Run provides an exclusive opportunity to run on the beautiful, privately owned grounds of the Abbey, which otherwise are not open for public recreational use.
This year we are asking all of our seminarians to not only take part in the race but also reach out to friends and family and ask they make a small donation. Your gift will not only help support the Abbey and Seminary College but will be an investment in the future of these young men studying for the Catholic priesthood in parishes like yours throughout the Gulf South.
