Invested in our Past, Investing in our Future!
Since 1898 the Monmouth County Historical Association has been gathering stories of the people who came before us and the things they held dear. 118 years later, we continue to care for those things and share those stories and we are hoping to do so for generations to come! We hope that you will become our partner in this endeavor. Every donation whether it's $10 or $10,000, will help us to fulfill our mission to collect, preserve and interpret the interesting history of our area.
How will my donation help?
Your donation will help us to continue to add to and care for its collection of 30,000 artifacts which includes furniture, art, clothing, photographs, china, books and historic houses. MCHA continues to collect objects and stories up to the present day and is working to interpret and share these stories and artifacts with the widest possible audience in a variety of interesting ways.
Where will my donation go?
We have a wealth of dynamic projects underway that could use support. We are very excited about an exhibition opening this fall about Hurricane Sandy which will collect the recollections and related artifacts and ephemera illustrating the stories of those affected by this natural disaster that continues to impact so many in our county. Additionally, we have begun an ambitious effort to digitize the Association’s collections and need funding to invest in the software programs similar to those used by major museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art use which will allow visitors and scholars around the world to be able to access our unique collection. Finally, the MCHA hopes to undertake a much-needed revamping of its website to make it more user friendly. Your support of these projects will go a long way toward helping us to invest in our future which will be a benefit to all citizens of the county we call home..
Is there anything in it for me?
History, saved and preserved, is the foundation for future generations. Telling Monmouth County’s role in the American Revolution helps to give our children grounding in what it means to be an American. Sharing the stories of ourselves and our neighbors builds community and makes our area a vital place to live and work. Learning about those who came before us gives all of us a sense of pride and strong historical identity. More practically, you will receive our gratitude, a nice tax write off, and the chance to win prizes, such as passes to the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA! Many thanks in advance for your support!
