Support the Montshire Museum's Scholarship Fund and give the opportunity of a lifetime to children living in rural poverty. Every year, we help about 40 children attend Montshire Summer Camp—recognized throughout Northern New England for exceptional programming. Our limited scholarship funding does not meet the demand, and we are able to support only 50% of the fee for most campers. Meeting the need for scholarships would require us to double the charitable gifts to the Scholarship Fund.
Montshire Summer Camp is unique in several ways: campers learn about natural or physical science on our 100-acre campus in Norwich, VT, right across the Connecticut River from Hanover, NH. Our camp staff is all college age or older; many are professional teachers. We develop week-long camp experiences that are fun, adventurous, and richly educational. Low-income families should have full access to camp—and that's why the Scholarship Fund is so important.
Here's what one parent wrote about her daughter's camp experience:
"As I expected, she absolutely loved every minute of it. It was the happiest week of her summer and the chatter about it went on for two weeks after the end of camp... It was a tremendously enriching and invigorating experience for her that she otherwise would not have had. I am truly grateful for the generosity of others who have allowed for my child (and other children) to attend this high quality, FUN camp."
