Scott Dahl Medals-Mettle

To give away money is an easy but noble matter.  At Medals4Mettle we give away Spirit, Determination, Will, Hope, and a recognition of the Human Potential to Persevere.

Note from one of our donors: " I'm a big guy (anywhere between 220 and 240 pounds) who most people don't see as a runner. And yet I manage to finish every race I've started. Perhaps that is what I have in common with the folks who get these medals - however unlikely the idea of our finishing is, we manage to anyway."

We're looking for a few runners to join our team at the Indianapolis Monumental marathon.  Get fit and become part of something bigger than yourself this year.   If running a marathon has always been a goal of yours let us help you achieve it in 2011.

We have thousands of medals to donate to children facing serious illnesses, and we need funds to purchase new Medals4Mettle ribbons to attach to these medals. To date we have received and donated over 18,000 medals. Our organization spans across North America, from Mexico to Canada.  We have representation in Japan and have awarded medals across Europe.

We have a staff of over 70 - all volunteers who work with races and hospital development staff, as well as raise their own funds to purchase ribbons for donated medals.

Join us at the 2011 Indianapolis Monumental Marathon to help us with our fundraising efforts. 100% of all proceeds received will go toward the distribution of more medals.

To join Team Medals4Mettle, you are required to raise at least $300 for us.

In return, you will receive:

*discounted entry into the 2011 Indianapolis Monumental Marathon;

*online and on site (where available) coaching;

*wristband; and

*Medals4Mettle t-shirt

Additionally, Bill Rodgers is running on our behalf.   Bill is 4 time winner of the Boston and NYC Marathons between 1975 and 1980.  He also twice broke the American record at Boston.   Participants will get to meet him at the expo.

Please also visit our website at, to see how you can help your local chapter.

“Finishing a marathon is hard work and being able to transfer that dedication and effort to someone who is not able to race, but who shows the same courage, is a great feeling that is hard to describe.”-Steve Isenberg, founder of Medals4Mettle
