BENEFITING: SpreadKindness Org
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2013
I wanted to reach out to you to see if you would be able to help with an activity that I'm doing this fall for charity. While I very much respect all the good work that charities and races do, I'm actually training for a goal, not a race (I recognize my limits, and most of them are outside the realm of racing). But I wanted to do some good and help raise funds for a charity while combining it with a personal goal of mine.
As a product of the D.C. area, I've always enjoyed going down to the monuments and seeing the downtown sites. However, this has usually meant a trip by car down there.
Having picked up biking in the past couple years, I've been riding a bit around Reston and thought it would be neat to ride from Reston to the sites in D.C. (about 60 miles round-trip). I know there are endurance athletes that do this daily, but this would be a huge leap for me to do.
That being said, I'm looking to meet this challenge on Nov. 2 by biking the entire round trip and thought it would be great to incorporate a charity in this goal called Random Acts. It is a charity that revolves performing a random act of kindness in their local community, in a sort of "pay it forward" style of charity. Participation can be done through either acts of kindness in your own community or through monetary donations for the organization's campaigns. The organization's campaigns include the Hope 2 Haiti 2 project to help the continuing efforts to rebuild Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010. For more information on Random Acts, here is a short video: http://youtu.be/_Zy11CjXF9w
I really identify with this charity's mission of paying acts of kindness forward and would like to support their campaigns and projects through this personal challenge of mine. A donation in any denomination would be most appreciated, but so too would an act of kindness, such as providing support for me when I make it to downtown D.C. and the monument areas.
Thank you, and I appreciate your support in anyway, be it donation or even just showing your support on my journey on Nov. 2.
