If you don't already know, UGAHEROs helps children in Georgia infected with or affected by HIV/AIDs with quality of life care. We are the ONLY nonprofit in Georgia that helps this particulary stigmatized and marginalized group of kids. If we don't help them, no one will. 100% of the money you donate goes STRAIGHT to our kiddos.
WOW Events Committee spends the semester raising morale and money for our awesome kids. So, as a committee, we create, organize, and produce events that are fun, memorable, and helpful to the cause. Our event is the Spring Year End Event. Mark your calenders for April 19 for our event. That's the only detail I can give you right now besides the fact that it's going to be a blast!!!!
I started working with UGAHEROs almost 3 years ago. I joined because I needed to get involved at UGA, but I stayed because I recognized that I was making a difference. I tend to be one of those people that needs to invest in something larger than myself; I have to feel like I am helping people. Like I already said, the group of kids that we serve is extremely stigmatized, and they don't have anyone fighting in their corner except for us. And honestly, they are awesome kids. I love working with and for them.
Every kid event I try to spend time with different aged groups of kids. So, I've talked to little girls and boys who don't really understand what is happening or why as well as older kids in high school who understand all too well how they are affected by HIV/AIDs and how much it affects their quality of life. I KNOW what we do is important, and I am thankful for ANY support you can offer so we can better serve our kiddos!!!
Info on our entire organization:
Again, UGA HEROs is a non-profit student run organization that strives to improve the quality of life for children in Georgia infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS by raising money to support the programs offered by H.E.R.O. for Children, Inc., spreading awareness about the growing problem of pediatric AIDS, and participating in service initiatives aimed at improving the lives of affected children.
We've provided 500 kids with over 18,000 hours of quality life care, raised over 1.5 million dollars, and with your help we can continue to expand programs such as SuperHEROs Mentoring, Camp High Five, HERO for a Day, Holiday of HERO's, and UGA HERO Olympics.
There are three things you should know before you donate:
1. It only costs $2.74 per day to put one child through our Super HERO Program.
2. 100% of your donation goes to support our kids and their programs.
3. We're a 501(c)(3) and all donations are tax-deductible.
