Small Business, Mother's Kitchen needs YOUR help!
Organized by: Angella Ferdowsijah
Hello everyone. My name is Angella Ferdowsijah and I am the daughter of the owner of Mother's Kitchen, Mary Ferdowsijah. We are a family owned and operated restaurant in Henderson, Tx. My mother retired from her nursing career of 46 years just 4 years ago in order to pursue her lifelong dream of owning and operating her own business. For her, opening, owning, and operating her restaurant was not only a dream come true, but a sense of ease and hope for a better future for her children and grandchildren. I can honestly say that she undoubtedly enjoys putting smiles on the faces of the many customers we have served in our 4 years of operation. Most importantly, she truly values each individual and her ability to share her down home cooking made from fresh ingredients. She has always been a goal oriented hard working achiever, and I'm very proud to say she is my mother. Like many of us, the economy greatly effected our livelihoods in more ways than we ever imagined. Yet, the morgage, utilities, tax payments, and numerous other bills continued pouring in as scheduled each month. Not only has the last few years been far from easy as with many Americans, it has been difficult even more so for my mother and her small business. In 2013, she was diagnosed with 4th stage colon cancer and experienced rigorous chemotherapy treatments, doctor visits left and right, and all of the pokes and prods along with it. She had to leave her dream in the shadows and focus on building her strength, health, self esteem, and drive back to the normal state. Her absence from Mother's Kitchen was sudden and lengthy; 1 year 5 months. We were forced to cut our hours back and as a result we lost a lot of business. Although my mom hasn't verbalized her disappointment, our inability to function at our complete capability, lack of revenue for marketing and signage, and with the drawbacks of having to downsize, it is hard not to imagine the discontentment she must feel. I'm proud to say that she has returned to the restaurant as of January, and we are all happy to see her push and not give up. Just a year ago I didn't think she would ever be able to return as she was unable to eat on her own, bathe herself, or even open a bottle of water, some of the things we all take for granted. Because she is unable to work like she used to, I recently took a break from school and quit work to give my complete concentration and time with helping the business grow and succeed to its full potential. This journey has been the ultimate test of strength, faith, selflessness, inspiration, motivation, and drive. We would like to continue serving our community and meet all the necessary demands without hurting our potential growth with cutbacks due to the many unforeseen expenses. With your contributions we will be able to cover the costs of equipment, marketing, a well needed sign, and countless other expenses to get our business out of the slumps and reaching our full potential. Any amount will help and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read this and help us in any way possible. Even if you are unable to help us with money, we encourage you and ask that you cheer us along the way! Check out our facebook business page: https://m.facebook.com/MothersKitchen.Henderson

Eventually, we hope to be in a position to give back to the community and those in need, as demonstrated countless times in the past. Regretfully, we need support, but lack the ability to give anything in return immediately. However, once we are able to get out of this slump, we will definitely help another individual/charity as others helped in our time of need. The Sky is the limit! Thank you again for anything you can contribute, and for having faith in Mother's Kitchen and my mom of course!
