BENEFITING: Discover Outdoors Foundation
EVENT DATE: Jun 29, 2015
Over the past couple of months I have embarked on a bit of an adventure, pursuing and obtaining my 200 hour RYT (Yoga Alliance) certification. It’s an adventure that has allowed me to not only perfect my hand standing abilities but also to share yoga, and all its healing power, with those around me. Whether on a yoga mat, on a hiking trail, or at a local rock climbing wall, I have always been passionate about finding adventure. Trying new things and moving our bodies is what keeps us invigorated and excited about life and inevitably leads to self-discovery.
Discover Outdoors is a non-profit organization that provides an opportunity for underserved kids, who have never been out of the city, to get outside into nature, hike mountains, or even learn how to swim. These experiences teach kids to push their boundaries and step out and do something that may have at first seemed impossible. But most importantly, they get the opportunity to consider the wide world outside the city that they know so well.
So, for the next 7 months I have chosen to combine my love of adventure, the outdoors, and yoga in order to support this organization that I feel does such a huge and wonderful service. I will be donating all of the proceeds from the yoga classes I teach to Discover Outdoors. Through this and various other means of fundraising, I will be raising $7500 to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro - and with some luck do a handstand on the summit - something I considered quite impossible just a couple of months ago. Please join me and donate to this really great cause.
Also – check out discover outdoors at http://www.discoveroutdoors.com and check in to my facebook page to keep up to date with yoga classes I will be leading around the city!
Thank you in advance :)
