Let's help girls reach greater heights!
The world is pretty much 50/50: boys/girls. But in poor areas of Nepal many girls can't get to school and 70% must leave before high school. Just think what is lost when half the people who make up a community are not given the resources to help build a better society!
Edge of Seven's Building Up Girls campaign will make it possible for girls in Nepal and Tanzania to reach greater heights through higher education.
$25 buys a desk
$100 provides a door
$1000 builds an entire classroom!
Can you give up one cup of coffee a day for 30 days? 60 days? and put that amount toward educating girls? I bet it will make you feel better than any caffeine jolt!
Did you know that TODAY in 2013 social status and caste still prevent higher education for girls? Follow this link to read about Amrit whose lower caste status makes it difficult for her to travel and stay in the town where she could go to school.
Mamita was forced to marry after 10th grade. She now has three children and is trying to further her education so she can run a business. Her husband's family won't help her go to school. But YOU can help!
“What we are seeing around the world is that if women are healthy and educated, their families will flourish … and when families flourish, communities and nations do as well.” – Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
