BENEFITING: Community Foundation of Carroll County
Our railroad history is disappearing. Help us SAVE IT! So many historic rails cars are just left to rot and their stories never told. Let's not let that happen to B&O C-2095. Help us raise money to historically restore our B&O Caboose C-2095 and retain this piece of our history. Your tax deductible donations will help us pay for restoration of this historic B&O Railroad Caboose. Once restored, the caboose will return to Main Street in Mount Airy, Maryland and become the Visitor Center along the Mount Airy Rails to Trails walking/biking path.
We are a 501(C)3 non-profit organization - all donations are tax deductible
The caboose is an I-5 cupola caboose built in the 1920's and was in service until the 1970's. This caboose was a workhorse for the railroad throughout Maryland and West Viriginia and after retirement had several homes in Brunswick, MD as well as Frederick, MD before ending up on a farm in Mount Airy, MD. The Town of Mount Airy, Maryland has a rich railroad heritage and we would like to bring C-2095 to town and give it a meaningful job once again as the Town's visitor center. The caboose was recently donated by the Scranton familly to the Mount Airy Community Fund for restoration and to bring a piece of history back to Main Street Mount Airy, MD. Thanks to Digging & Rigging of Mount Airy for being the official mover of the Mount Airy Caboose C-2095!
