Running runs in my family. Some of my earliest memories are of my dad going for runs in Prospect Park. And, as a kid, I cheered along 5th avenue in Brooklyn as he ran the NYC marathon three times. We particpated in NYRR family fun runs and I loved the rush of crossing the finish line. In a house with very few photos or family momentos, we proudly displayed my mom's running trophy (featured in my profile picture above).
When it came time to choose my sport, track seemed an obvious choice. As a fourth grader I reached the peak of my atheltic prowess, winning the school-wide turkey trot. It's all been downhill from there :)
Now, more than 20 years after cheering my dad from the sidelines, I will be running alongside him this November. And, I could not be more thrilled to be supporting the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center in this race. I've been a fan of the Center for years, and I can't wait to highlight the great work they do each and every day as I fundraise for this race.
If you want to learn more about the Center, see below. Thank you for considering supporting this important cause!

Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center (the Center) is a unique, free health clinic providing comprehensive and integrated medical, sexual and reproductive, mental health, dental, optical and health and wellness education services to more than 10,000 young people between the ages of 10 and 24 each year. At the Center, all young people are welcome to receive quality health services that are confidential and provided in a warm, welcoming and safe health home by experts in adolescent health. For 48 years, the Center has been a critical resource for young people in NYC and beyond, most of whom would otherwise go without care.
We invite you to run for this important cause to make a difference in the lives of our young people, and the health of our community. Every $1,000 raised will provide a full year of comprehensive health care to a young person in need. Please support our efforts to keep our youth happy, healthy and well educated, with hopes and opportunities, by preventing disease and promoting health.
We hope to see you at the finish line. Thank you!
