BENEFITING: MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL
ORGANIZER: MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL
In 1968, my grandmother ('Gram'), Dr. Joan Morgenthau, founded the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center. I cannot wait to run the 2017 NYC marathon in honor of her work and in her memory!
The story of the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center is a great one. Beginning, with Gram's vision, in a trailer in a parking lot in East Harlem, the Center was the first program in New York, and one of the first in the United States, devoted to the special health care needs of teens.
Excitingly, it has grown since 1968 to a staff of more than 100. It is the largest center of its kind in the United States, catering annually--regardless of ability to pay--to the health and wellness of approximately 11,000 young people, ages 10 to 22, most of whom would otherwise go without care.
