BENEFITING: MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL
ORGANIZER: MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL
Who has superhuman strength, lightning-fast speed, and the endurance of an Olympian? Well, probably some other marathon runner, but for me, I'm just your average runner thrilled to run the NYC marathon for a cause that is very meaningful to me.
For the past year, I've been working at the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center ("The Center") providing legal services and representation to the young people who walk through the doors each day. I've witnessed firsthand, the Center's dedication to their patients, whether it be through the incredible services offered or the staff's drive to always provide the best to all their young patients, regardless of where they come from or their ability to pay. My personal experiences with my clients and the staff at the Center are the primary driving force behind why I'm running this race.
The Center is a unique, free health clinic providing comprehensive and integrated medical, sexual and reproductive, mental health, dental, optical, and health and wellness education services to more than 10,000 young people between the ages of 10 and 24 each year. At the Center, all young people are welcome to receive quality health services that are confidential and provided in a warm, welcoming and safe health home by experts in adolescent health. For 48 years, the Center has been a critical resource for young people in NYC and beyond, most of whom would otherwise go without care.
I would be grateful for your donation to this important cause to make a difference in the lives of the Center's young people, and the health of the community. Every $1,000 raised will provide a full year of comprehensive health care to a young person in need. Please support the Center's efforts to keep our youth happy, healthy ,and well educated, with hopes and opportunities, by preventing disease and promoting health.
Make a donation and see the impact you can have in one year:
$1,000 = Comprehensive services for one young person
$500 = Comprehensive exam, dental exam and cleaning
$250 = Three mental health counseling sessions
$100 = One comprehensive session with a health educator
$50 = One lab test
$25 = One prescription medication
$10 = A MetroCard for a young person to visit the Center
I can't promise I'll finish in first place, but I will finish the race. :)
With much gratitude,
