One in 7 kids will experience the death of a parent or sibling by the time they reach 18.
62% of teens say they would give a year of their life to spend just one more day with their loved one.
Michael's Place serves all who are grieving the death of a loved one with compassionate, innovative programs and services. The only center of it's kind in northern Michigan, Michael's Place is here to give grieving children and teens, hope and a voice. But, we don't just serve kids, we serve all ages who are grieving a loved one's death.
The impact of unsupported and unresolved grief is far-reaching and devastating.
Michael's Place is here to provide hope and healthy healing for all ages with peer-to-peer support, "best-day" mentored acitivities, and community-wide efforts that advocate and educate regarding grief and the needs of the griever. Since late 2014, Michael's Place has had a 60% increase in families with children and teens seeking our programs and services. The Art Van Charity Challenge will provide much-needed funding to serve the increasing needs in our community.
“After losing someone who was like a brother to me at 18, Michael's Place helped me work through the grief and pain. Today, nearly 8 years later, I still speak highly of this wonderful organization. I wouldn't have made it through without them.” Amanda D.
Let the healing begin at Michael's Place.
