BENEFITING: Martin Richard Foundation
ORGANIZER: Martin Richard Foundation
EVENT: Team MR8 Boston 2017
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
My name is Molly Ellis and I am so thrilled to be running my first marathon to benefit the Martin Richard Foundation. Running the Boston Marathon is a dream I have always wanted to accomplish, but running on Team MR8 means more to me than I could ever imagine.
The events that occurred on April 15, 2013 were tragic and unthinkable to so many. Days after the marathon, Martin's message of "No more hurting people, Peace" was seen by millions of people across the world thus forming the mission of the Martin Richard Foundation.
Like Martin, I also grew up in Dorchester and experienced first hand the value of community. Although I wasn't even close to what you would call an athlete, Athletics and education were both huge foundations throughout my childhood. The Dorchester CYO and little league teams bring together so many families each season, exemplifying common themes of teamwork and togetherness.
This year, my goal is to spread Martin's message every step of the race. With your help and donations, MR8 will continue to strive to build peacemakers, leaders and most important: peace.
Donations made to our runners on Team MR8 Boston 2017 ensure that the Martin Richard Foundation continues its mission of investing in athletics, education and community by empowering youth and adults to improve the lives of others and become bridge builders, peacemakers and leaders in their communities.
