Welcome to the MRSA Foundation CrowdRise page. We are glad you took time to visit it. The MRSA Foundation's goals are to increase awareness of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and increase funding for good research. If you have been following this disease or have been affected by it, you are already aware of its severity. Although MRSA may appear benign on the skin, the symptoms are merely a façade of a much bigger, deadlier problem that lies just beneath the epidermis.
Each year, over 18,000 people die of this condition and the number is rising. Because of this bacteria’s resistance to medicine, it is difficult to treat successfully. Furthermore because this bacterium is often misdiagnosed, it is equally difficult to prevent. Our foundation has learned copious amounts of information about this disease over the past four years and hopes to use this information to educate and aid people suffering from MRSA and MRSA-related infections.
The MRSA foundation has two major goals as a non-profit foundation:
to increase awareness of MRSA and MRSA-related infections
to fund public and private research initiatives that are actively seeking a cure to MRSA.
“Actively seeking a cure” does not, in our opinion, mean loosely interpreting medical science to increase sales of one’s own product, rather it means to be doing good medical research at a sound institution with the goal of producing knowledge or medicine to help people whose lives may be in danger. Under our About Us page, you can see how we evaluate the research initiative we sponsor.
In order to sponsor others though, we need money. We understand the economy is bad, times are tough, and there are many worthy non-profits vying for your cash--many of them also on CrowdRise. However, we encourage you to help in whatever way you can, either by visiting our website, helping on here, spreading the word, or even passing our link on to others.
